The members of this group of volunteers change each opportunity we have to serve! Approximately 8 times a year St. Andrew's commits to providing a group of 8 - 10 volunteers to serve the evening meal to the guests at the Rescue Mission. Our workers arrive at the Mission at 4:15 p.m., going into the reception door and reporting to the Rescue Mission personnel. They are directed from there and put into the cafeteria-style line to serve both hot and cold items to the guests dining that evening. The Rescue Mission provides vinyl gloves and St. Andrew's provides the aprons! The only thing our volunteers provide is a SMILE! Dinner is served by 6:15 p.m. and our job is done.
You can volunteer to minister as a member of this group by contacting John Hitchins.Volunteers are needed for the “Bless My Sole” ministry at the Rescue Mission Free Clinic. One Thursday every three months we staff this ministry from 4:45-6:15 p.m. This ministry is a wonderful way to be the example of Christ to others. After a brief orientation, volunteers provide soothing care to the feet and souls of their clients. We will soak feet, wash feet, apply moisturizer, provide a new pair of socks and then pray with each client. If any medical issues are suspected, or toe nails need to be trimmed, we ask the medical staff to step in (RNs and retired nurses are especially needed!)
Uneasy about washing a stranger's feet? We still need you! Runners provide clean water and towels.
